Or: My answer to a recent question about adding Tumblr support in Ego is now completely void. Or: Yes, Tumblr support in Ego is coming soon. Or: Happy Friday.
Anonymous asked:
Are you going to have Ego support Tumblr stats (followers, posts, etc.)?
I get this question constantly, but I always responded directly to the asker and have never made a public answer available.
The simple answer is no yes (see update below). I would LOVE to include Tumblr in Ego. I use Tumblr for many projects, and I love the platform. But Tumblr has informed me they have no plans to include statistics (followers, tumblarity, etc) in their API.
I spoke with Marco about this again at SXSW and he confirmed once more they will not offer the API hooks I would need to support Tumblr in Ego. So until that changes, I can’t do it.
Update: Just got an email from Marco, and both follower and post counts are now available in the Tumblr API! So my answer above is now invalid. The new answer is: Yes, soon.

Do you have any plans on having Ego work on the iPad? I have mine pre-ordered and would love to be able to use Ego on it.
Yes. Yes I do.
If you’ve wanted to listen to me ramble on endlessly about Ego’s development and design as well as iPhone development and PR, here’s your chance.
Ego has been nominated in the Most Useful App category of this year’s Best App Ever awards, so if you like the app please take a moment to vote for it. And if you don’t like it, you’re nuts. (Alright, I’m a bit biased.)
Ego hasn’t been touched in a month or so due to client work, but I have a several very awesome updates coming by the beginning of February. Not quite ready to talk about what’s coming yet, but I’m excited.
Prettify* took a break over the holidays, but I’ve queued up content for the next several weeks, so starting tomorrow it will be back to serving up nice wallpapers and icons.
That Isn’t Art is still trucking along, and has become one of my favorite side projects. I love writing for it, and at this point I don’t see any shortage of ridiculous “art” to lampoon. Now I’m just waiting for my book deal.
pinch/zoom, the company I started with Brian Fling last May, has really hit its stride lately. We’ve got a lot of fantastic projects going with some really big clients. I haven’t been able to talk about projects for months, but there will be stuff to talk about soon that I’m very proud of.
Forever’s Not So Long, our award-winning short film, passed the 150,000 plays mark on Vimeo last week. We couldn’t be happier about the response to this film, both in the festival circuit and from viewers. We’re working on some new projects right now as well.
Ego version 1.6
I’m pleased to announce version 1.6 of Ego is now available (iTunes link). This update includes a new widget type: Vimeo!
Vimeo is one of my favorite services. We use it for our sketch show, our short films—pretty much every bit of video we put online. Now I can track our plays, likes and comments, as well as subscribers right inside Ego.
Go get it already why don’t you?
In case you missed it last week, version 1.5 of Ego was released. It contains a new widget for Ember users. Check it out.
I just submitted version 1.6, which also features a new widget type. I’ll talk about that more when it gets approved.
