Why is there no web API for Xbox Live friends, games, etc? How difficult would it be to create a development program where I can register for a key and then I can use a simple API to build an app that lets me see who is online, what they’re playing, and so on?
There are apps that do this, but they all use the full HTML of each page at the Xbox Live website and they use regex to pull information from it which is stupid, slow and brittle. Get with the program, Microsoft!
(And, while we’re at it, the new Xbox Experience Dashboard is still absolutely great, but when is Microsoft going to add simple features they should have added years ago such as the ability to add a nickname to friends [so you don’t have to remember who everyone is by their (sometimes cryptic) gamertags] and actual previews for themes and picture packs?)
