I frequently need to get PNG filesize down when I receive files from clients, designers, or even when working on my own designs. Up until last year, I used PNGCrusher for these purposes. It works very well, but it was never updated for Intel Macs, so it’s extremely slow to start up.
A while back I took some time to recompile the app with an Intel version of OptiPNG, so now it’s extremely snappy on new Macs.
The original app was released under a GPL license, so I’m redistributing it here under the same license. It’s basically identical to the original, but this version works on Intel Macs ONLY. And it’s much faster.
