Shawn and I talk about this sort of thing a lot, especially when it comes to filmmaking. We spend so much time over-thinking and over-analyzing what we’re doing, worrying if we’re making good content, wondering what we should be doing instead, spending hours and hours of extra time polishing and editing and tweaking. And then we see people spend half as much time on something and get funding.

Sometimes you have to be absolutely sure of yourself. It’s not that we’re not, it’s just that we’re smart people—we don’t think the world is going to give us whatever we want without a fight. Unfortunately, people who don’t think like that end up getting whatever they want without a fight.
