Halloween Plans
Me: Just realized I didn't ask: What are you doing for Halloween?
Me: Besides jerking off like always.
Shawn Morrison: Still thinking what I'm doing besides jerking off.
Shawn Morrison: Nope, that's pretty much it.
Me: I figured.
Shawn Morrison: You want details or?
Me: Hmm. Maybe not this time.
Me: I'm still having trouble sleeping from the last time.
Shawn Morrison: I don't blame you.

Me: Did you get your Level & Tap stuff yet?
Shawn Morrison: Oh right, I forgot to tell you. Yes.
Shawn Morrison: It looks awesome.
Me: Nice.
Shawn Morrison: Totally flawless, the prints blew up perfectly, no noise.
Me: They exploded???
Shawn Morrison: Yeah, I mean, what do YOU use to enhance the explosion of dynamite, paintings????
Me: Not after this conversation!
Shawn Morrison: I wasted so much dynamite with stock photos from IKEA. Level & Tap is the real deal! KABOOM!

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Charlie’s Dating Profile
One of my favorite moments from this season.
(Sorry if you have to go through the Hulu login, but this is TV-MA and god forbid any children see a bunch of men with cleaner mouths than their parents.)

Rate iPhone Apps Friday
It’s that time again: Take 10 or 15 minutes out of your day today and rate/review some of the apps you use on your iPhone in the App Store. Most people have tons of apps on their phones, many of which they love, but we’re all guilty of forgetting or not bothering to review them in the store.
Today my ratings included iPhlix (4★) and AIM (2★).

– Adam Frucci, Fleshlight Motion Review at Gizmodo
Also, watch the video review. It’s great (and, thankfully, does not involve Frucci actually using these products).

CH Live: Dan Gurewitch
I had never seen Dan’s standup before, but this is hilarious.

Neighbor: Wow, growing a beard, eh?
Me: No, no. I just haven't shaved in a week.
Neighbor: Right. That's growing a beard.
Me: Well. I mean I'm not growing it purposefully, I've just been lazy.
Neighbor: Yeah.
Me: Yeah.
Neighbor: Looks good, man.
Me: No, it really doesn't.
Neighbor: Yeah, honestly, it really doesn't.

– John Gruber, DF: Microsoft’s Competition for Windows 7
This is spot on and one of the single biggest differences I see between PC users and Mac users. Windows 7 will not change this.

My Day, Yesterday
A little over a year ago now, I shot and released this little video project, recording a day and compressing it down into 90 seconds. A few weeks later, I shot another one when I traveled to Las Vegas.
The response to this project was enormous and other people started doing it too. The My Day, Yesterday pool currently has 215 videos and 724 members. That’s a lot...

Ego 1.5 →
In case you missed it last week, version 1.5 of Ego was released. It contains a new widget for Ember users. Check it out.
I just submitted version 1.6, which also features a new widget type. I’ll talk about that more when it gets approved.

Oops
I sort of took an unplanned hiatus from updating this site, Prettify and That’s Not Art over the past week and a half as I worked on other projects and cleaning up the apartment. I should be getting back to everything this week, though. You know, in case you really needed to know.

Tip: Fullscreen Quick Look
In Snow Leopard you can view a document using fullscreen Quick Look by pressing Option-Space instead of just Space. Especially useful for larger documents, images, or when you want to view something on black.

Me: [Answering the phone] Hello?
Woman: Hello?
Me: Hi. Hello?
Woman: Is Garrison there?
Me: I'm sorry, who are you looking for?
Woman: Garrison Mallory.
Me: Wow. You've got the wrong number, but, honestly, I think you might just be looking for an alternate universe.

Fall Clearance: Everything Must Go!
I’ve been going over every inch of my apartment cleaning as if I were moving. With this mindset I’ve been able to get rid of what seems like a metric ton of junk, and I’m only about 40% done with the space. Compared to someone who saves newspapers, toys from their childhood and the like, I’m no pack-rat. But compared with average people, I might be.
Some of the items...

Promises Unfulfilled
The bottom of a receipt from Diesel says, “FOR SUCCESSFUL LIVING” and yet when I wore the jeans out last night I wasn’t offered any large sums of cash, no women threw themselves at me, and my car didn’t transform into a Lamborghini. Now I know what you’re thinking—maybe they mean successful in the spiritual sense. But even then it didn’t work, since I...
